Carpeted Floor + Stairs (Suspended Subfloor)
For Carpeted stairs and floors:

Stop Squeak Repair Kit: This kit features special screws that secure the plywood or chipboard to the joists without compromising the movement of floating floors. After application, you'll need to fill the small holes. This step targets problems directly associated with the subfloor.
PLEASE NOTE: Stop Squeak will not damage the carpet in any way and there is no need to remove the carpet first. Just drive the screws through the carpet.
