I won't claim it cured all sounds by 100%, but my expectations were low and I was pretty keen to eliminate the squeaks and creaks from our recently fitted Oak engineered flooring. The choices were: 1) go crazy, 2) rip up thousands worth of flooring or 3) give it a try. We gave it a try, and I'm amazed to say that a week on it seems to have done an really good job. around 70 - 80% of the creaks are gone (maybe more), and we are delighted. It looks like weak PVA in a bottle with special "needle" tip. Whatever it is, it worked for us.
Thanks for the review Nigel. Stop Creak is not an adhesive of any sort, it is very much a water based lubricant. While we keep the formula a closely guarded secret, I can tell you that Stop Creak's formula is also used by luxury car manufacturers to keep their dashboards creak-free!
The item is very easy to use and apply, so no worries there. Whilst it's aleviated some creaking it hasn't eliminated it. My engineered and grooved wood floor has been laid with suitable expansion gaps on a level concrete subfloor with a thin underlay, yet it creaks in a number of different places. My last remaining thought of the problem is perhaps the boards were fitted too tightly to each other in the first place, having been tapped in to ensure they clicked in securely(?)
Hi Lee, 99% of the time if the creaking continues after using Stop Creak it is either down to creaks from the subfloor (including underlay) but in your case, it sounds like Stop Creak should work. Please contact me directly at paul@stopcreak.com and I will try and help you get to the bottom of the problem.
Good. But how long does it last?
Hi Gary, it depends on your floor and the climate conditions in your house. For some it's 3 years (and counting) ad for other 6 months. No lubricant lasts forever however, Stop Creak's active lubricant does not dry out in theory it should last a long time.
Amazing product, I had engineered floor fitted to a dodgy subfloor 4 years ago. Nearly eliminated the all creaky, will see how long this last until I need to reapply. 3 weeks in and still no creak.
We have been experiencing really loud creaks in our hallway for the last few months and driven to absolute distraction, we purchased a sample of Stop Creak to try in one of the affected areas.. lo and behold - it worked within minutes! It is so easy to apply and in our experience, had an immediate 100% success effect. We are no longer tiptoeing down the hall, trying to avoid the creaky parts - we are thrilled! Thank you Stop Creak!
